Networking: My network cable is unplugged?

It seems that my network cable is unplugged but its plugged and it seems to have no resources since it has not been properly enabled.

However it says in device manager that it is enabled.. i checked the bios and it was enabled..

Anyone else give me a hand I have a intergrated SiS900 ethernet running on WINXP

I just upgraded to newest drivers.. but still nothing

Does it go through a router or hub? Or directly to the cable modem? If you're house is prewired, go to where your router/hub is and make sure all wires are plugged in.

you may be using the wrong type of cable to connect machines is different from source to machine. There is straight through and crossed-over cable.

you say all you have is a Cat 5 cable between your Desktop and Laptop Ethernet RJ-45 Jacks? If that is the case the cable would have to be a CrossOver cable or it would say cable unpluged. I take it you don't have a Hub or Switch and just a cable between 2 computers? If I am correct get a Crossover cable. A normal cable will not work unless you have a hub or switch.

Hope this helps.
