Ok...i've gotta computer in the living room that i'm using as a media center. Its running XP Pro.

My computer is basically where all media is coming from. I stream mostly tv shows, but i have some fan-subbed anime i want to stream in there as well.

I had the whole drive shared, but it gave me the error of 'file not found' when trying to play from the anime folder and certain files couldn't be moved for some reason.

So...I made a 'media' folder. Through all of the videos in there w/ sub-folders 'Anime' - 'TV' -etc.

I'm still getting the same error. BUT...if i move the video file from the anime folder to the tv folder...it plays just fine!

My question is...what am I missing?? The folders are setup exactly the same (as i shared the 'media' folder).

Please help me with this...oh yea, i'm using windows simple file sharing (just to make it simple).

I would like to learn how to use 'permissions' and setup user accounts, but i can only seem to search locally when doing that, so...doesn't work so well for a network. ^_^

From what I can tell so far, (what I have bolded) seems to be one of your primary issues. WSFS can some funky things so I tend to turn it off completely.

Well...any idea how i would set permissions for a network? Thats what i really want to use anyway.

Oh yea...forgot to add...i'm doing this via network cards. My comp has 2 wired cards, one being dedicated to the other machine.

The other machine has 1 wired, 1 wireless...both of which are active. I've got the wired set to 192.168.0.2, and the main comp is .1.
