I have a Wireless NIC (Lucent/Agiree Orionco Silver) and a built in NIC on my laptop. When I am at college I use the wireless card for the few hours a day I am there (Beats waiting for a computer and having to remember my login info) but when I go into work or at home I want to use the built in 10/100 NIC on my laptop.

Here's where the fun begins. When I want to switch from the bulit in to the wireless or back I have to re-run the "set-up home/small office network" wizard every time I switch. However when I talk to other people using similar set-up and they don't seem to have any problems with it.

Here's the specs:

HP Pavilion XH575 Laptop (1.1 Ghz AMD Athlon, 512 MB RAM, built in NIC) running Windows XP Professional
Lucient Orionoco Silver Wireless Network card.

Any thoughts or recomendations on what I should do?

If you've tried updating the drivers for both, and possibly a bios update on the laptop. I would just simply setup two profiles, one for the wireless and one for the 10/100...

that's what I was thinking, however where do I set up the profiles in XP? that way I can have "School" and "Work".

You can create a separate "hardware profile" for each NIC as mentioned. Click start then go to "help and support" and type in hardware profile for more info.

I imagine you also could create a separate user account and enable/disable each NIC for the appropriate one also.

I may be setting up a wireless network here soon, so I may have the same issue to deal with.
