Networking issues with Vista 64

Hi guys, here is my story.

I had a power surge that apparently fried the onboard network port of my motherboard. It no longer is seen in windows nor does it show up in the BIOS. So naturally I am trying to find a replacement card, and it is proving difficult.

I can't find a wired nic card that supports Vista64. I went out and bought a linksys, and vista wouldn't even detect it. I did some research online, and found out that a few of the linksys wireless cards have OEM drivers created by the chipset makers. So I went out and bought one of those cards, installed the drivers, and I can now get on my wireless network.

However, the connection isn't all that stable. The router is right next to my PC and and full signal strength, but if I ping 192.168.1.1 I get about 30-40% packet loss steady. I tested out my Powerbook and I get 0% packet loss.

I tried changing wireless channels, but no luck. I'm guessing it must be the drivers?

So, does anyone know where I can purchase a wired nic card that will run under vista 64? I'm searching through newegg but I'm not having alot of luck.

Can anyone help?

THANKS!

Woah awesome, thanks so much. Do you have a specific card you can recommend? I don't need anything fancy, just a simple wired card.

Thank you!
