...and that idiot is me.

I'm upgrading my crappy DSL (768kps) to a cable provider (10mbps). For the past six years i've just used the wireless router that my DSL company provided. Its a 2wire something something.

I dont know anything about routers or networks, but the cable guys said they only provide the modem, and that i need my own router.

What model should I get? I want one that isn't going to crap out on me...

Do you need wireless N for HD streaming wirelessly? or is G good enough? What am i looking for? what brand is a good quality/value?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Been using a Linksys WRT54G v2.2 since the thing came out. Never once ran into any kind of issues with the router. Course my router does not support 'N' type wireless cards.

Even though I just bought a netbook that does supports all the types. I just don't feel the need to replace the router yet.

here are few of the wireless routers that you can look into

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Wireless...d=abcat0503002

And here is the process to connect your Modem to the wireless router (the process is similar to any wireless router you may purchase)

1. Turn on your wireless router
2. you should see a cable thats currently connected from your cable modem to the PC, connect that to your Wireless router (do not connect to uplink port)
3. connect another cable from the wireless router to Your PC
4. Insert the CD that came with the Wireless Device
5. follow instructions to configure your wireless router
6. (make sure you put in a password or security key for the wireless connection)

Thats all its to..

Good Luck.
