I moved into college and my ethernet is working very poorly. It will work fine for about 2 hrs max, then my ip address changes to either a bad/invalid ip or to 0. My university supplies free ethernet but they require you to have a dynamic ip setup so I can't try a static ip. It's happened about 5 times and none of the University Tech helpline guys know what to do. In network connections it says it's connected but I'm getting a bad ip. It's not the cable or the wall jack.. In bios, the Hardware MAC(NV) address is always disabled and when I set it to enable and save/reboot, it's back on disable; it also won't let me manually enter in a MAC hardware address. I'm new to ethernet/LAN because I had dial-up for the past 5 years. Please help me, I NEED the internet ASAP
EDIT: No router, straight from the wall to my MB, the tech support guys think I should reinstall windows, not something I'd like to do. No Viruses detected either.
