I have 4 computers that are locally networked thru a Netgear wired hub.
I have the signal that is coming from my wired Verizon DSL modem/router running/routed thru my Belkins UPS that is servicing the 1st machine on the network. Note: the other machines have their own UPSs and they do NOT have a place on them to route the cables thru for filtering.
I have noticed that when I download or have other internet activity on the other 3 computers that the NIC light/indicator (on the first computer that is doing the signal filtering) shows activity even though there is no internet activity on that computer.
I assume this is being caused by the fact that the NIC light is showing the activity of the USB cable that is doing the UPS monitoring for the first computer.
Should I consider NOT routing the patch cabling thu the UPS and go directly from the DSL modem to the HUB ? I would think that this would leave me open to possible overvoltage electrically charges thru the telephone wiring.
Does routing the cabling thru the UPS in any way hurt the performance of the NIC operations on any of the 4 computers ?
Thanks.
