Networking AOE2 Problems

I have a 5port LAN hub. I try to play Ages of Empires 2 and i am not able to connect. It always says "Unable to Join". When i play Countrstrike it works fine. Is it a bug with AOE2. I also tried computer to computer and it said the same message. When i put it on a domain or workgroup with an internet connection it worked fine. But Counterstrike didnt need an internet connection. Can someone help me out with this.
 
What OS are you using? When I tried it with AOE2, I needed to have the IPX/SPX protocol installed to play over a LAN. Try installing that protocol on all computers joining the game. Hope this helps.
