Networking a laptop in DOS...

Hello all,

Got an Armada E500 laptop that I need to get working in DOS with a 3Com 10/100 PCMCIA card... we used to have a working bootdisk to do this, but that was eons ago when DOS was actually supported. If anyone knows where I can find Card Services software that works with this laptop, I'd be grateful... 🙂 I've tried the generic stuff but it's non-functional...

Silly question - did you do a thorough search of Compaq's web site? I did a quick look and they seem to have a bunch of versions of things called CardWizard for Windows 3.x support. That would likely work under plain old DOS. Not sure about your model, however.

Workin': Yeah, that's the problem... I've tried those ones and none of them work. Even 3Com doesn't offer support for DOS cards. I've even tried an older 10mb Etherlink III but I get a fatal error with that too. These cards both work fine in an older Armada 1540, just not the E500 that I need... 🙁

Did you try e-mailing or calling Compaq tech support, if there is such a thing?

Do you know the make and model of your pcmcia controller? If you know that, you could do a search on Google for drivers. Maybe you tried that already.

Good luck!
