I have a hub, and I have 2 computers; both have an ethernet card. My main comp is connected to the DSL. I want to connect my other computer to the DSL, all i'll be using it for is basic stuff... internet browsing, email, and instant messaging. What do I need to do to share my DSL over a network?

Windows 98SE and up have internet connection sharing built in. You'll need a second nic, other then that you should be fine

1. Buy another network card. Buy crossed Cat5 cable (ask in any comp shop)
2. Put new card inside comp with DSL connection.
3. Connect 2 computers with crossed cable.
4. Set IP on comp with DSL for new network card to 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0
5. Set IP on another computer to 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0 and Gateway to 192.168.0.1
6. Turn on internet connection sharing on computer with DSL connection (should be Win98se or win2k or win xp)

You are ready.

Note: There is no need for hub with 2 computers, only if you have 3 or more. If you connect computers directly, you need crossed cable. If you are using Hub - usual one.
