Networking 101

Muse

Lifer
I googled this and tried 2-3 of the hits and found them unsatisfactory. The PC Mag article was from 2003 and a bit too elementary and newsy and the first hit had my laptop gagging from suppressed popups and it was unnecessarily busy and had scant useful information. I'm looking for an online source of info that will put my feet on the ground in basic home networking and possibly off into more complex systems. I've had ethernet for a while and just set up a wireless router. I don't understand basic concepts I hear such as hub, switch, bridge, ports and others and I'd like to get a feel for how and why one might utilize these. If I get a recommendation for a good book, that would be cool too. TIA.

Agree. like the quietness in the centre of it!

I hadn't looked at those in a while. Many of those make me laugh (in delight!). Great wit there.

Yes, thanks for the resources. I'd seen the ezlan one but forgotten it. I'll be digging into it.
