Networked scanner suddenly stopped working

Got one of these at the office, it's been working great for several years, but few weeks back the scanner suddenly stopped working. Printing still works fine and network status shows no problems.

When I try to scan on Windows or MAC I get a message about unable to connect to the scanner. Tried rebooting the scanner to no avail. Are the scanning functions broken?

Maybe the license expired. You still using the same OS and everything? Scanners are notorious for only working with the initial OS. I use fujitsu scanners only. Sometimes windows update or other programs like java can cause problems with your networking and your scanners and your client software.

License, to the drivers or OS? No changes were made to the systems that I am aware; moreover it stopped working at the same time for both machines.

I tried reinstalling drivers, no luck. I can still use the 'copy' function directly on the machine, but am unable to do a network scan. I'm on an iMac while colleague is on XP - both computers had no problems using the scanner right up until it suddenly stopped working.

Like I mentioned, printing still works via the network so this seems to rule out networking issues... also, the fact that copying still works indicates the scanning functions are not broken.

I'm stumped. This doesn't tell much, but is what I see on my Mac when I try to access the scanner:
