i tried this with my new laptop using a 30 ft cross-over cable

windows keeps saying 'local area network connected 100mbs' then 'a network cable has been unplugged' (back and forth)

the network works when connected but stops when windows says 'a network cable has been unplugged'

i was thinking that the cord may be too long? any suggestions..
