Well I just added a third computer on the network at the wife's office. I was uncertain what would be best, a hub or a switch. So I emailed the linksys people and they recommended the switch. It had a rebate on it too.
Now ICS no longer works. It was working fine when there were only two computers with a crossover cable. Now with the switch neither of the two can access the internet. Of course the machine with the modem works fine. Dialup is all that's available.
I intend to switch over to, most likely Sygate, for various reasons but I am curious as to why ICS would no longer work. I suspect it has something to do with ICS only working with DHCP. And of course I want be certain that Sygate will work with the switch.
I am pushing the limit of my knowledge network wise here. There are many facets of it I have no understanding of.
