network speed....which cable to use?

Just got a new router for a gigabit lan connection yet one of the computers does show this speed increase...I think it is the cable incorrectly terminated in the connector. Which cable should I use to increase the speed? 1000Base-T?

Is the NIC set properly on the computer that is having the issue? Does it have a gigabit NIC? Does the cable work for the other computers? If you're talking about short distances, CAT5e is more than enough.

yes it is a gigabit NIC. The distance is about 25 feet. I need to check the cable to make sure it is good.
