Netsol and Verisign are evil entities. They're essentially cybersquatting EVERY unregistered .com and .net at this time.

I remember back in 1997 or so, some guy sold bank.com and a few other very common noun domains for several million. And he got those domains for free too! How do you get domains for free? And how does network solutions own nearly all the domains?

A week or so ago, Verisign inserted a *.net and *.com registration into their DNS server that points every unregistered .com and .net to a search page that they sell advertising on. It didn't propagate to the entire Internet, however, because it pissed the hell off of a ton of admins. So not everyone can get to it by typing somthing dumb like gjkhfhdj.com - but a lot of people sure as hell can.
