I tried to forward ports for BT today and i port trigger the same ports i forwarded. Now for about an hour and a half it worked great. Now everytime i go into my computer everything works fine for about 60 seconds after starting up and after that my email (outlook express) doesnt work and AIM doesnt connect. BT wont connect it either has "waiting" or connecting to peers greyed out (i use ABC).

Now the only way to fix this is to not port forward anything and the only temp fix i found was to reset the modem and router while my computer is restarting and it repeats it all over again. It works fine for 60 sec then does the same thing. I have a netgear rp614 v3 router and need help on correcting this issue while port forwarding. Thanks

First of all I'm not sure why you're port triggering unless you're REALLY worried about security. Have you tried just forwarding the ports without triggering?

All you need to do is forward the first 9 ports that your BT client is setup to use (check your client's settings - not all BT clients use the same start port - latest version of ABC starts at port 10000 and defaults to randomly use the next 1000 ports in order to spoof tracking attempts).

BT actually doesn't NEED port forwarding - it'll work fine without it. However you'll get MUCH faster downloads if you do forward the ports.

Be aware that a BT client (especially when using port forwarding) can easily saturate all available bandwidth and THAT may easily make it impossible to do anything else on the internet while using it. I generally only run BT at night while sleeping.

You may also have a router that is sensitive to being flooded, but that shouldn't happen with any router made in the last 3 years.

You should check to see if there's a firmware update for your router.

Hope this helps...

Will just port forwarding really do the trick? Do u think port triggering is the problem? Also ABC is different. You need the same amount of ports as your download limit. so lets say u have 50 download limit u can download 2 files but u need 50 ports at least. now i honestly cant go messing with it all the time as i cant mess with it. Im on my parents LAN and tried it 4 times or so today and they r getting pissed. I need to try something that will more than likely work so if i try port fowarding without triggering would it possibly work? Also we just bought a new router a lil while ago.

Did i mention even if i just start my comp up and dont do a thing it works for like 60-120 sec and then does the same thing. No matter what i do... I dont think flooding is the problem.

I'm thinking the router is the issue, not so much the settings. I've had netgears do that to me before. Get yourself a Linksys.

Just tried the no port triggering. Seems that isnt the problem becuase it worked fine for about 3 hours now it just started again.

I use ABC as well. Latest version. I port forward all ports from 10000 - 11000 for TCP (this is the default port settings for the latest ABC) and it works fine. No triggering. Triggering is only necessary if you're concerned about leaving those ports open all the time.

You can find out if it's a problem with the router by connecting the modem directly to the computer. If the problem persists it's not a router issue. Maybe you have a bad NIC or a bad NIC driver.

You could also try putting your computer's IP on the router's DMZ and see if that helps, but you'd better be running a firewall.

I think the problem was somewhat ABC's fault. Everytime i switched the ports or change the options it would start it up. It seems stable with bittornado but i left bittornado on yesterday night and it seemed to do it as well. Im not sure what it is. Is it possible it could be a hacker flooding it or something? Because ever since i port forwarded i have been getting internet security alerts of a portal of doom trojan trying to enter. Of course it never entered. But you never know. Anyways i will prolly try updating some drivers or something. I cant plug it directly to me as it is a LAN and my comp is on another floor from it and the cord isnt long enuff.
