My dorm hall network for some reason doesn't work right with win2k. I reinstalled yesterday for another reason, and checked and it still doesnt work. All the win98 computers can see all the others computers on the network neighborhood and share files and all that. My win2k box on the other hand can see all the other computers, but can only see very small number of shares, takes forever to even move from workgroup to work group or try to look at what a computer has, and it takes so long to download anything even though i'm on a 10/100 network. My roomates win98 box works fine. I installed netbuei, and ipx to make sure and it still didnt work. A friend of mine said that its because we dont have a primary domain controller and that it browses slow because NT is wierd like that and has to check a bunch of things. But last year when i was at a different dorm it worked pretty well. Oddly after some work people could see my shares, with a guest account i made, but i wanna see everyone else, so if anyone can help me i'd really appreciated it?

Hrm..not sure if this has anything to do with it but do you have NTFS on your harddrives? Also, do you have Win2k professional or Server?
