network printing garbage

I have two computers networked at home and an epcon colour 600 attached to one. The epson has been an excellent printer but I find I cannot print from the second computer without printing garbage and a great many pages.
I have uninstalled all the drivers and reinstalled them and of course have the second printer linked to the epson on machine one but I still cannot print any good copy.
The printer works perfectly with machine one aand both machines are win98se so I am at a loss as to the problem.

I would be very gratefull for any ideas.

machine-1 -- p3 900, maxtor 20gb, Geforce gts, 256mb,
machine-2 -- cel 900,WDig 20gb, Voodoo 3, 256mb.

Both machines have Accton cheetah pci network cards.

Well, I would say its a bad driver on the second (remote) machine since thats what usually causes the garbage printouts. A couple of things to try: make sure you have things set up on both computers the same. Set the computer to not print until the last page is spooled. Can you share files between both computers without any problem? Tell us what you find when you dig around in your network settings. File and print sharing must have been selected already, and you must have already shared the printer (just stating the obvious, you never know).

thanks for reply,

I have changed drivers on both machines and tried copying driver from machine 2 back to machine 1 to check and everything ok. File and print sharing enabled etc. You cannot change the print spool type on epson 600 so stuck with RAW format.

This is very strange as I would expect to be unable to print anything if network settings were wrong.
