I'm planning to setup my network next week once my hub arrive. I'll be connecting two computers to the hub. My question is that do i have to make one of my computer a proxy server and use some program like sysgate in order for both computer to have access to the internet or is there any other way to set it up so u dont need a proxy server.

thx for all that reply...

Depends on the OS you are using. If it's Win98Se, ME, 2k then you can just use the ICS connection which is a NAT server (seemless for the most part).

Hardware solution:
Get a hardware router, then no need for software proxy

Software solutions:

1) dig up an old 486 and run linux on it, make that as your server and proxy, no need to tie up one of your "useful" PCs...

2) use one of your PCs as proxy server, run Windows ICS or 3rd party NAT software
