Network (Modem + 2 Routers) keeps dropping every few minutes

Hello, I've encountered a massive problem with my network where I can't play one round of a video game without losing connection to the game server no matter what game and occasionally losing all access to Xbox Live. Additionally, my phone and computer lose connection briefly as well and it makes it difficult to use them. On my phone it will every few minutes say that it connects to the Wi-Fi signal even though the Wi-Fi connection had never gone away. On the laptop, it will drop and will say "Connected, No internet".

My brother (who has now moved out) did the setup and I am way over my head on the terms and ways of routers and modems. We have two Linksys WRT54GL routers and one Westell 7500 modem.
The Westell 7500 is on the top floor connected to the phone line, and has one Linksys hooked to it. When I hooked up my laptop on an ethernet to the Linksys, there was internet connection and I was unable to connect to 192.168.1.1 (double checked it using ipconfig, it was the default gateway and I was able to ping it in the command prompt) using Firefox, Chrome, or Edge. Connecting to the modem, the address was endlessly trying to connect and stopped due to it being endless. Downstairs is another Linksys with an ethernet cord hooked up to the DVR and Xbox One.
Unstable internet has been an issue for a while since my brother left (we had three Linksys all bridged and he unplugged and took one with him to his apartment). Today it has been unbearable where I can't do anything on the connection. Any idea of a fix? I have searched all over for a solution but I'm worried about resetting anything and making our internet stop working completely since I am not super informed on routers, settings, or how networks work.

I apologize if I am leaving out crucial information, I tried to include what I know without having access to the webpage of the routers/modem

The Westell is a Modem/Router.

The rule is only one Router to a LAN.

Make sure that the additional Wireless Routers are configured as access Point.

The principle.

Using Wireless Routers (or Modem/Wireless Router) as a Switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Thank you for the reply! I was thinking that could be an issue but my brother insisted that more = better lol. I'm going to reset my modem and bridge it to the one linksys router which I am going to reset as well. If I have any additional questions regarding setting up that other threads don't answer then I'll post again!

Thanks!

Start with checking the modem itself to make sure your issue is not actually with your line. Is this on a DSL connection? A multiple routers on the same LAN scenario would typically cause a "double-NAT" type situation. The type of intermittent issue you've described isn't *necessarily* due to your equipment. Rule out any basic line issue by observing the lights on the modem at the time of the trouble and then move forward from there if they're ok.
