Hi,
First, can this work? (I don't even know, I'm noob with routers)
http://etherealnet.servehttp.com/patrick/home.PNG
then, I would like to know if it's a good layout for my home network. I want it to be scalable and stay with the same layout for years. It must be able to do 100MB/s on samba on my 10 drive RAID5 SCSI array on "ironmaiden". Most of the computers don't have a lot of storage (like big max 120GB, but mostly like 30GB), everything is on Ironmaiden (1200GB, easy to grow up to a lot of TB). I don't want to add any storage to any computer except ironmaiden, EVER. I can also add connections for the other computers to the bottom switch when their storage needs require it, even if it's just 100mbit/s (bottom switch is for storage traffic only). It will be like a 5 to 8 port switch. I also do a lot of serving and that stuff (games, http, sftp, ftp, rsync). I have a good UPS for ironmaiden. I'm a little confused about the IP addresses.
discuss, I need advice!
edit: The gigabit network will use jumboframes. The central router must be able to work with different MTUs.
