very basic setup, 4 desktops and 1 system set up as a server. MB fried in one of the desktops so I replaced it. The LAN was working fine on it, but I rebooted it and am having big issues.

1. if I go into network places nothing comes up, if I type //server, or one of the other 3 PC's names it comes up. NOT sure if this is part of the problem but it's annoying if nothing else.

2. the big problem, the server has a database everyone accesses on it, on this PC I can see the shortcut on the desktop fine, but when I double click it, nothing happens. I can ping the server fine. And if I type //server/database in explorer I see the directory. But I cannot access the file even from there. I am able to open shared files on all the other PC's from this one and all other PC's can access the database fine. And on all other PC's if I go into network places this PC is visable. once I type //(pc name) the networked pc's all become visable on this one with the issue.

all PC's are XP, I have tried turning the Firewall to make sure that wasn't the problem. Thsi new PC has no antivirus or programs running.

ideas here? I'm stuck.

thanks...
