Here is my setup (both of them are WIn98 machines):
Computer 1: I have 2 network cards. Card #1 is configured for use with my DSL modem and Card #2 is configured for use for my home network. I use ICS in win98SE to share my DSL connection. Card #2 is running into my hub.
Computer 2: Single network card that is connected to my hub.
This setup has worked flawlessly for me since January when I got my DSL line. However, I recently flattened my hard drive, but used an image file to get back up and running (I used the same image file about 4 months ago and it worked fine). I mention this because I don't know if it could somehow be part of the problem.
Anyway, I can ping Computer 2 from Computer 1 even though Comp 2 isn't listed in Network Neighborhood. however, from Comp 2, I can't ping Comp 1. I have replaced the network card and the RJ45 cable for Computer #2, but it still doing the same thing. Any suggestions?? I can still surf the internet with my DSL line, so I assume Comp. 1 is OK. Could it be the hub?? Also, I've tried all the different ports on the hub and I get the same results.
Thanks,
AB
