Does anyone know of a way to install win2k from across the network? Linux comes with a network boot disk you can use to access a shared iso or cd, just wondering if anyone knew of something similar for win2k. I'd like to install win2k on a computer without a cd drive, and am too lazy to move a drive from one of my other computers.

Does it havbe a floppy?

You can use norton ghost 2001 to send an image over the network (boot off a floppy and use image cast). I have a 800 meg win2k image I use when building computets with win2k. It has some generic network drivers, so once it is done installing, I install the network driver, and get everything else off the net.

Are you installing Pro or server? You can do it,but you need to set it up properly on a server. There should be some documentation on remote install from the W2K site.

You can do that through an RIS server. But that requires AD, DHCP installed and require you to have a PXE 99c+ (I think) complient NIC or a special boot floppy for a bunch of NICs that arn't PXE complient.

You can just boot from the NIC it will connect to the DHCP / RIS server and install the image of w2k pro (only pro are supported) from the network.

There should be more detailed info on the set procedure on the KB somewhere.
