Alright, I'm baffled. I'll admit I know nothing about setting up a network and I tried and seem to have failed. I need some expertise here! I have 3 computers all hooked up to a D-Link D-524 wireless router which is connected to a cable modem. Two desktops have ethernet cables to the router and the laptop connects wirelessly. The interent connections work fine on all 3 computers. I tried setting up the network on all three using the network wizard but it soesn't seem to be working. When I click on "View workgroup computers" I get a message saying "Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resourse. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have acess permission. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." I read something about crossover cables somewhere? Do I need special cables? Please help!

You only need a xover cable if you are networking PC to PC, so don't worry about that.

You need to make sure all three PCs are using the same workgroup. Changing them all from Home or Workgroup to something else (StephanGroup for example) is a good start.

The next step is to figure out which PC you want the other PCs to have access to, create a local account on that computer that the others can use to connect to it, share a folder from that PC, then see if you can connect to it via another PC.

Alright, I have it up and running! All the computers see one another!!! Thanks for your help!

Now I have a couple of other questions. Does the router act as a firewall? Do I need to have Norton Interent Security or not? If so, how do I configure it to allow the internal LAN traffic?
