I am trying to connect two systems to share files through 1 internet connection using a Netgear GSR614 router. I run the network set up wizard in XP SP1 on the host computer and it fails every time. It says try again or configure it manually. I did the second system with no problems the first time with XP SP2

Any ideas I can try as all I need to do is get files from the second system in the shared folder.

Don't use the wizard thing.... Just set them both to use the same Workgroup and then share whichever folder you want shared. Then you should be able to go through Network Neighborhood, Entrire Network, Microsoft networks, workgroup name.... Normally that's allit takes if both are connected to the router and are set to use DHCP. Otherwise you can try to access the other computer by IP address instead of name.

By using a Router you have a regular peer to peer Network, No host, each computer is on its own and the network setting has to be configured on each computer.

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing.
