I have a problem I?m building a new computer and I was just going to set it up wired to the network I already have however my router is full so I have two choices that I know of if there are more please let me know.
1: get a wireless PCI card
2: get a new Router with more slots
Also how fast is wireless compared to a wired setup I know it?s slower but how much slower???

Get one of these and plug in into your router then plug your new computer into it.

Cheap, easy, and works real good.

so i say buy a switch, cause u dont want to go wireless on a desktop. expecially for games.

All you need is a hub to add on to your router. Could do wireless as well if it's a wireless router. Speeds aren't much different unless transfer huge files between computers. For internet and such you won't notice much of a speed difference.

This is the Router I have I would like to get the switch from NETGEAR as well also I need an adapter so any recommendations would help.

If you like your router, get a switch to expand the ports on your router. If you feel it is lacking, look for a better router. The relative speed of wireless to wired is sole dependented on what you are doing. If you are wondering if your internet connection will be slow, the answer is no. the majority of online access does not even exceed the bandwidth of 802.11b, and today g is pretty common and inexpensive. If you are transfering large files over the network, b is glacialy slow, and g is barly adequit when compared to wired 100mbit.

Andif your looking for recomendations.. don't, instead find stuff you can buy cheap and then do google searches to see if people have problems with it. there is just way to much stuff out there that works 'fine', what YOU want to know is if something dosn't work 'fine'.

Just buy a 5-port netgear 10/100 switch. Unplug one computer from the router. Plug the switch into the router. Plug the remaining computers into the switch. Done.

Gigabit is when you need really really fast connection between computers. Doesn't do anything for internet browsing. 95% of the people will just need the Fast ones, not the Gigabit ones.
