hi guys,
i have been trying for days to get my home network going, and i have tried literally everything i can think of to solve my problem but nothing is working.
I have a d-link usb wifi card for a desktop, and a linksys WRT54G wireless router. I can get them connected for about 1-3 hours, then the connection just dissappears on my desktop and there is no way at all to get it back unless i restart. i have to push the reset button con my computer because it wont shut down on its own after this connection drops. When i try to repair teh connetion, the coputer just hangs and i need to manually rest the compter.
it is so strange because i have my wireless dell laptop (with an intel wireless card) working just fine off the router with no connection dropping problems at all. ialso have one desktop hooked up to the router via ethernet that has no problems.
the only potential thing i can think of left to tinker with are the speed options for the d-link card. it says it is a superG 108 mbps, while i know the router is only 54 mbps. would changing the option to force the d-link card to operate at 54 mbps help? i don't want to mess with those settings if i can avoid it. thank again.
