my local radio shack has network everywhere 2.4ghz 4-port wireless cable/dsl router (model nwr04b) on clearance for $29.99 (no rebates). i purchased the last two in store :) not sure if this is nation wide sale...good luck

This is a subsidary of Linksys... it's the ABC's of networking... Linksys started this so home user would purchase Network Everywhere products and make installation and setup as easy as possible. But dont be fool'd same functions / hardware / firmware as comparable linksys models. Nice deal

RadioShack SKU 25-3089 supposedly this is ON SALE (not clearance) and ends tomorrow 10/23/2003.

Downtown Portland, Oregon (5th & Salmon 503-224-1716) has two left.

Just so you know this is only a so-so deal. People have complained that these units overheat a lot and some have complained of it crashing. I was going to buy one too but after hearing all that I decided not to. Be wary of buying this.

I don't plan on buying any because we already use the best wireless router (Microsoft MN-500) available, it freakin' rocks.

Any tech company which uses a term like 'Wireless Freedom' as a FEATURE on a WIRELESS ROUTER does not deserve my business. Only business from the people who browse the net and say:

Ooooooo! This Wireless router has wireless freedom! Joe! Joe! Does your wireless router say wireless freedom? No? Hahahahaa... I am so 13373r than joo!!!! WEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I so pwn!

And also. There are better routers, that do MORE, cheaper.

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the super microsoft router link that was posted.

But Dell did have a TrueMobile 2300 Wireless B/G router, that was free when you purchased a 16 port powerconnect switch. Free is good... if you could use a 16port switch for... whatever us crazy people buy shizzle like that for...:evil:

Any seasoned Hot Dealer can find the Microsoft MN-500 for $20-$40 every now and then.

That Dell TM 2300 deal you're referring to is also hot but I still say the Microsoft WAP is one of THE BEST for 802.11b

Some marketing person decided that they needed one more thing on the features list. How many times do you see several "features" on the feature list that are unnecessary, silly isn't it.

the microsoft router is a good deal. i posted this deal because the wireless router was cheap for $29 out the door, no rebates or coupons. it may not come from a top vendor but it works.

I've seen Dlink routers for this price a lot, and those are damn decent from my experiences.

From my experience Microsoft routers suck. That could be from user error, but their tech support also sucks. I couldn't get it working at all with my surfboard modem, and other people have had similar problems. The router would just shut off on me constantly. Linksys worked without any problems at all. As soon as I plugged it in, it worked fine.


Edit: and by constantly I mean all the time. It NEVER actually worked. It would only work on one port at a time.

I've had a similiar experience with SMC I purchased the VERY POPULAR and HIGHLY RATED SMC 700WAWBR ... sure it worked great for 2-3 months then it started requiring resettings every damn day!!!

The Microsoft MN-500 has worked flawlessly for the past 6 months, setup and installation was super easy, even with 128bit WEP, SSID, MAC, turned on I get awesome range and signal strength.

Glad it worked for you, but I would never recommend it from my experience. And I tried more than one, I tried both the MN-700 and the MN-500. The tech told me I have to disable wireless and can only use two ports for it to work because that one might be defective, I tried still crapped out. It seemed like the tech just tried to get me off the phone as soon as possible. The tech also didn't know what the hell they were doing.

I've tried the linksys and it was flawless. WRT54G, far better than both of them I think. As soon as I plugged it in it worked instead of me spending countless hours.

Bah, all of those wireless solution blow compared to the Compex NP16A router + Oronico Gold PCMCIA card
