network connections gone

After installing new Internet explorer I cant seem to see my connections on "Network Connections"
I can still connect to internet but I cant see my connections.
Theres blank in network connections and when i try to refresh
I get
The Network connections Folder was uable to retrieve the list of Network adapters on your machine. Please make sure that the Network Connections service ie enable and running.

I'm trying to connect to different wireless connection but I cant seem to see the connections so cant connect to it.
