on my old PC I used A network card that was ISA slot now I built my computer and I need one that use PCI slots I have cable internet where can I find a really good one for a good price? thanks!

(by the way I buil it today it was my firsct PC that I had ever built and I gotta say not one problem!)

get a linksys, they are much cheaper then 3com and they work the same. Just to tell you, brand names dont really matter with network cards.

to be honest, most NICs will do just fine

make a choice: 10mb or 100mb.

then go to your local comp store. you'll most likely get a nic cheapest at a local place because:
1) nics are already relatively cheap
2) no shipping charges

if u find a site without shipping, then sure go and buy it from there.

rule of thumb: stick to the big names like dlink, linksys, netgear, smc, 3com.
however, as someone said before, brand names don't really matter. it's not very likely to get a bad network card

Intel NIC's even though they are more expensive, will serve you the best. I have NEVER had a problem with my Intel 10/100 NIC. Although the crappy DLink one that came with my DSL modem gave me major problems.

Solution? I went out and bought another Intel NIC.

Trust me, spend the extra cash.

No Linksys at Newegg, get this one:

Netgear FA311 Ethernet Network Card 10/100 Mbps N82E16833122101 $13.00

That's description, item #, price.

Also look for SMC, but I prefer Netgears (I like the FA310TX's actually, but my 311 is fine).

For some less than though testing, and some writing on the matter, look for a thread I posted in the Networking forum. Someone gave a link comparing all the different cards.
