Network Card Unplugged

I'm getting the message that the Network Cable is Unplugged on one of my computes. I get this on both my wireless adapter and and the On Board even when the on board is wired. It's not my router, 3 other computers are connected with no problems, i.e., can connect to the Net as well as with computers on the network. Tried the wireless card in different slots, uninstalled and re installed the drivers. There are no conflicts in Device Manager and both the onboard and wireless can be seen in Device Manager, no yellow or red signs. In ipconfig it says that IP Routing Enabled NO and WINS Proxy Enabled NO. Media State Disconnected. Using Windows 2000. Everything was working fine and turned on the computer this AM and had no network connection. Any help would be appreciated. No viruses or spyware found. Thanks

If you're having problems with multiple NICs, then I'd guess it's a software/driver problem. Try booting from a live linux CD and see if it works there.

Where would I get a Linux CD to boot from?

You can burn one from one of the working computers. You can also run them off of flash drives, too, I believe. Knoppix comes to mind, but I know there are many different ones now.

Check you link speed duplex, drop it to 10mbps from auto negotiation. Control Panel > local area properties > configure > advance > under 'properties' (link speed or speed and duplex)

Under Control Panel there is no "Local Area Properties" in Windows 2000

g paw: try either reinstalling the TCP/IP stack on the NICs, or reinstall them altogether. like others stated, the linux boot cd is also a good way to do PD. lets you know if it's software or not.

Tried Knoppix and it started booting but hug up but did seem to recognize the NIC. Deleted Pinnacle Studeo 9 and Roxio Media Creator 8, was having problems with both, cleanred up temp files, did a registry repair, and did a defrag, rebooted and the card was recognized. Have no idea what he problem was. Thanks for everyone's help.
