Network can ping each other but internet connection wont work for other PC's, only mine

I have 3 PC's (on XP) networked at home called Dad (me), David & Matthew (my kids). The internet connection is installed on mine and David & Matthew connect to the internet through me. 😕

Suddenly they are unable to connect to the internet even though the icons are showing on all 3 PC's for both the LAN and the modem?

We can all access files on eachothers 3 PC's - each of the 3 PC's can ping each other and itself (except for mine unless I disable the firewall). I'm running Norton Internet Security and wonder if that is the problem. It doesn't seem to see the other 2 connected PC's when I go to Personal Firewall | Configure | Networking

I set up the network over a year ago and its been running great; nothing seemed to spark this problem. I'm totally lost - any ideas appreciated

Do you have SP2 installed? You are using ICS I assume? Why not disable Norton and just use the Sp2 firewall? Alternatively you could just buy a router which would make for much easier set up, but if you like it this way give the above a try.

I dont have Service Pack 2 installed and yes I am using Internet Connection Sharing. But even when I do disable the firewalls (ZP's and Nortons) it still does not work. The baffling thing is that this worked for so long and just stopped?

Hi DaiShan

They are all on the same workgroup and the settings -

My PC - LAN Properties|Internet Protocol|General tab|Use the following IP address is selected
IP address 192 168 0 1
Subnet Mask 255 255 255 255
Default Gateway is blank

Use the following DNS server addresses is selected with
Preferred DNS server 192 168 0 1
Alternate DNS server is blank

Davids PC - LAN Properties|Internet Protocol|General tab|Use the following IP address is selected
IP address 192 168 0 23 (when I set it to 1 Windows threw up an error message saying that 'the static IP address that was just configured is already in use on the network. Please reconfigure a different IP address' so I changed it back to 23 which was the original number before I made changes)
Subnet Mask 255 255 255 0
Default Gateway is 192 168 0 1

Use the following DNS server addresses is selected with
Preferred DNS server 192 168 0 1
Alternate DNS server is blank

Matthews PC - I've left it pretty much alone and the settings are -
LAN Properties|Internet Protocol|General tab|Obtain an IP address automatically is selected
Obtain DNS server address automatically is also selected

Hope this helps to explain the settings

Stephen
