They make RJ-45 to RJ-45 turnarounds. So you can plug the two of them together. But I'm not sure if that would degrade the signal at all... Someone else with experience could answer that...

They're called couplers. If you buy quality, and make SURE it's 100Base, you won't have a problem with signal degradation - assuming, of course, that you're not exceeding normal maximum length.

Yes, you want Cat5 cables that will be able to sustain 100base transfer.
