Hi all,
I am planning to implement NAS solution to my school (around 50 users using network drive) to replace our current setup*.
We are looking for a NAS model, configuration, hardware setup, or brand that can meet our needs; heavily file sharing over network drive, profile and my documents are saved and accessed on network drive, LDAP for AD account access, Giganit bandwidth, RAID10 ready, minimum SATA-II 750GB per HDD supported, 4 hot-swap HDD bays.

Our school only uses Windows XP and Windows Vista, no Linux and other OS connected.

Please let me know if any other spec data is needed, thanks.
Input and thoughts are welcome.
Thanks.

*Win2003 Ent., Exchange 2003, DNS, DHCP, AD, WINS, File Server all together.

You're going to dump the 2003 Server and go completely to NAS? Or are you adding the NAS to supplement your Server?

Based upon your description, it sounds like the your ideal solution would be....uh...exactly what you have now. A NAS that can handle "heavy file sharing over network" and AD information is going to be pretty pricey.

Hi, sorry for the confused information.
I am adding the NAS as supplement to my file server.
Ideally the original server handles AD for the accessing rights to the NAS. So you are right that my NAS should handle heavy file sharing over network (thanks for the naming as English isn't my primary language).
I have done some search about the price of NAS with LDAP integrated. They all pretty much cost 2500+.
Thanks for the input.

Any help is appreciated.
