Network and Internet Connectivity Question

I have recently purchased the SMC 7004ABR Barricade router for use with my home network and DSL connection. However, all except one of my machines is able to connect to the internet. The last one can see all other machines on the network, but will not connect to the internet. Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas? Anything that I might be doing wrong?

You assistance is appreciated.

Try to ping the router from the workstation. If you cannot ping, then uninstall TCP/IP, reboot, then re-install TCP/IP. Ape Out.

Before you do that, if you're running DHCP on the router, release and renew your IP on the machine that can't connect.

Ape and Werk,

I am able to ping the router from the machine that is not able to connect to the internet. I also have tried release and renew of the IP on this machine. I even tried removing TCP and reinstalling. None of these seems to make a difference.

Other ideas?

Ping www.nike.com although your router may not be set to allow pings. Also check your proxy settings in IE. Tools menu/Internet options/Connections tab/Lan settings. I would say to clear everything in there.

We could use a little info
what OS
did you double check cat5 cable
you can use the uplink port on your router but must use an crossover cable to go to a 5th computer
if OS is win98 remove everything in network propoties (dont wory it will come back after reboot and
itstall of nic card.
then run icw again, make sure nothing is checked in lan settings

Warmachine, here is some more information.

OS - Win98SE
Cat5 cable is fine. The machine is able to work successfully on the network, just not connect to the internet via the network.

Everything has been removed from within network properties and readded (several times) to no avail. Nothing is checked within LAN settings either.

Other ideas?
