network admins - how accurate is this salary quote?

Just found this: salary for a net admin in CR, Iowa

I just landed a big raise, and even with that raise, I'm still barely even on that scale. If we were going by job descriptions, that is exactly what I do, plus a whole lot more.

Just curious. The boss-woman wants me to come up with a real job description and expectations. If this is salary quote is accurate, I'll have some serious food for thought.

Doesn't seem too inaccurate, depending on where you are located. If I'm not mistaken cedar rapids is a sizable town. Here in the boon-docks $35k might let me live better than $45k in cedar rapids.

Soybomb - CR is pretty decent sized(for the midwest anyhow), within half an hour of driving distance, we've probably got close to 200,000 people. This includes Iowa City and Marion as well.

Pretender - I think they missed a "zero" or two on that quote

I just checked my job.. Extrapolate my hourly pay (I only work part time) and I'm right in the range that they give. Not too shabby I suppose.

I hear ya there LAUST. I've got relatives in the Co Springs and Denver area. For what my Aunt and Uncle pay for their montly condo rental, I could have a mortgage on one HELL of a house!

$200,000 here will get you one big freaking nice house. I would imaging that $200,000 in the Denver area would be considered average.

I didn't know that vehicle prices would be that different. I figured that MSRP was MSRP, and that invoice price was invoice price. Are vehicles going for over MSRP or something in Denver?

It was a Used 95 Lightning it had 34K miles on it and he got it for $12,900 here in CO allot of people were still wanting $14-15K even with over 50K miles.

Yea 200K is about Average.. if you like where I live (DTC) Better get closer to 250-300 for a midsize. The nice new large ones by Parkmeadows are 450K +

I Guess it's nice to sell your California Home for Ungodly amounts and come here and buy it for only a half million... I know I can't do it and I'm in the middle of my scale

Nahhh....it ain't that bad in Denver....yet.

Can get new 2000 sq ft home w/ basement for $196,000 in north Denver suburb.

And cars are not priced over MSRP...there are many dealers that will match your down payment dollar for dollar.. For example, a new VW Jetta can be had for $15K...not too bad.

But then again..I'm from Cali.

Yeah...I have to admit...home prices are crazy in CO...

But it's not that bad of a drive to tech center...I once went from Northglenn to DTC at 8AM in about 50 min..
Then again I don't drive there on a daily basis.

But the good thing about Denver is that there's also lots of tech jobs in the north also....IBM, Sun Microsystems, etc...
