Netscape users - what version are you using?

Title says it all. I just upgraded from the old v4.75 to the somewhat newer v4.79. I was wondering about v6; I had heard that it has a few problems with some scripts or DHTML; is it buggy?

Netscape 6.2.2 is based on Mozilla build 0.9.4, even though build 0.9.9 is out know and Mozilla 1.0 should be released very soon. They're lagging behind.

Man you really need to upgrade to 6.21+...

6.0 and 6.1 were pretty crappy, but 6.21 has been incredibly stable and most rendering
problems have a lot more to do with peoples' inabililty to code well than anything else.

I'm terribly sorry to hear your using IE....

Opera or Netscape, there is no other choice 🙂

If I'm not using Opera 6, I'll be using Netscape 6.2.1

using netscape 4.79 here for most part ....
occassionally use msie 5.5 sp2, as well as mozilla 0.99

i've been using netscape 4.7x, and have always like it (as well as the predecessors). i like the way bookmarks are done (to the sides, not scrolling down if more than one page), the pop email reader, as well as other stuffs .... so i'm sticking with it ....

not sure how long it will last though, for who knows when aol will kill netscape 4.7x or similar ones...

tried netscape 6.x before, and never like it ....

My thoughts exactly (except I don't use mozilla). Otherwise you are just like me. 6.x is really crappy and no one I know likes it. In fact many friends have switched to Internet Explorer just because of the cartoony look of 6.x or the tiny address bar.

Most of the log files for the sites we monitor still show the vast majority of Netscape users using 4.7x and 4.6x. IE's share continues to be a lot stronger than it was two years ago and usually averages 83-90% of the browsers on most of our sites.

Whatever the latest version on Mozilla is. There really isn't a reason to use Netscape anymore since its just out dated bloated Mozilla.

Ever since 4.7x started decomposing on my system, all I use it for is mail. I use mozilla for non-ie browsing.

I heard on Tech TV a few weeks back that Netscape 6.2something was reporting what web searches people were doing and tagging them with their IP address. I heard nothing more about that though, so I'm unsure of it's validity.

<< can someone explain to me how netscape can still manage to be in business with their inferior products? >>

Aren't they owned by AOL or something now? That would explain it. 🙂
