I had to d/l Netscape at work to do some testing and I must say I'm starting to like it a lot. The only problem I have with it is viewing Geoshitties links here. You can't drag and drop like you do with ie and cutting and pasting doesn't seem to work either.

for geocities links, put your cursor on the location bar (or highlight it) and press enter
or if you prefer cut/paste, try ctrl-N (open new window) and then paste it there

Go with Opera. 6.0 is a good improvement. And they just release it for Linux as well.

What's so good about the new Netscape?

I've always hated the slowness, and having to set up the user info crap, and all the auxiliary crap that gets installed when you install it.

IE is simply a browser... bang. Fast and simple.

plus Netscape IS aol... yuck. :disgust:

Hmm... No one is forcing you to use Netscape. Actually, since Netscape 6.x is simply based on the source code of Mozilla, it would be better to just use Mozilla, to avoid the bloat that comes with Netscape.

As for IE, it's not just a browser. It comes as part of an OS

Opera 6.0 even in beta form is a great improvement! The only "beta glitch" I've noticed, and I use it all the time, is that sometimes javascript links hang or don't work. But rarely.
After using O6 vs. IE6, ie6 sucks as$ hard core. I can't stand ie. And unless there something different about my machines I can not understand how everyone says ie is fast. No way does it compare to O6 or Mozilla. Try O6, you will like it.

I was a long time user of Netscape (since version 1.22...got to be an official beta tester for version 4.0, still have 4.0 Gold edition in a sealed box), but I finally started using IE several months ago because Netscape 4.08 (the last stable version of netscape) was having more and more difficulty with various sites that IE could display just fine, and Netscape 6.x was just too slow and had too many memory leaks.

Mozilla wasn't much better either. I am finally happy to report that Mozilla 0.9.6 is sweet, fast, not too memory hungry, highly compatible, and stable to boot! Netscape 6.2 is sadly a bit behind, and not stable or memory friendly enough for me to use.
One of my big complaints was that Netscape and mozilla both opened new browser windows extremely slowly. This is no longer the case, opening a new window is nice and speedy. AND in 0.9.6 you can actually open links in a new tab in the same window, to save on memory use and make it even speedier. This is great for someone like me who is constantly opening links in a new window.

If your on Windows use IE 6 but if your in *nix use Opera 6.0, I have to admit its one of the best browsers for *nix, its every pretty damn good under Windows. I have both installed on my home machine (Win2k) and I only use Opera at work(Linux).

As for browsers that come as part of an OS, Konquerer rules all!
