Loves Netscape 6.01. For some things it's better then Netscape 4.77.
IE? Don't make me laugh. No comparision. I still won't use IE after all these years.

Perhaps if you used IE this year you would see why less and less are using Netscape, rather than having an impression based on something about 3 or 4 versions back.

Nutscrape? no thanks. I want that POS company to die. 90% or more already use IE...not many more to go.

yeah no kidding. but wait AndyHui, it's hip to hate microsoft, didn't you know?!?
I bet Jero doesn't have one single valid reason to not use IE 5 or IE 5.5, while I could make a list of 100+ for nutscrape :D

Yeah. God knows that the world is only a better place when 100$ of it's occupants are brainwashed to use only one brand of product.

Anyway... 6.1 is mucho better than 6.0. 6.0 felt so beta it was ridiculous. 6.1 feels like a real browser and things like VLINKs work, and cut and paste, etc. I like it. :D

Just installed Netscape 6.1 beta. Hhhmmm... I think I'm gonna like this version. It loads up much faster than 6.0. Web pages seem to load fast too. I noticed that when AT went with the "new look", I have to click the back button three times with IE before I could get back to a previous page here in the forum boards. With Netscape 6.1, it loads right up:)

WTF, whatever happened to becoming solely committed 'media' and not the browser 'market'?

...because it takes 3 days, 8 hours, and 54 minutes to load on his 14.4kps surf-flex modem? :)

Really? I'd like to see you make a list of even 10 reasons why I should not use Netscape 4.77. Not 10 reasons why YOU don't like it, or why someone else doesn't like it, 10 reasons why I should not use it. Lets see. It works fine for me, I've had no troubles whatsoever, it works on multiple platforms, I can update it without making potentially problematic changes to my OS, it gives me an option of using multiple products (not stuck to one single company), I like the bookmark functionality better. Further, I don't have to download freakin' 80MB to update to 5.5 - I can just download 8 meg and have a complete browser. And the problem with this would be what?

I've kept up with IE and I like some of the features in it, but to me more options is better than having one single browser from one company and having every website in the world comply with the rules of that one browser. 90% of the time I use Netscape, 10% of the time I use IE..

haha, man you guys need to lighten up. who pissed in your cheerios? :p obviously you couldn't see the joking tone of my post. and don't you guys know every web designer hates netscape more than anything? :p makes my job a lot harder. spending all this extra time to get it looking fine in the minority browser :p i knew the arguments about IE being integrated into the OS would come up. please explain though...i don't feel like it is integrated  feels like a seperate program to me. are you talking about useless features like active desktop? you know, no one is forcing you to use that. and any other bloat can be easily turned off. 80MB downloads?? huh? last time i updated IE i remember it being around 20MB.

Hunt's sucks dude :p

BTW, mozially .9 has gone a long way. It's pretty nice, altho takes 35MB of ram... is that mostly debugging stuff tho? One thing i did notice tho, if you go to www.here, the menu on the left doesn't properly update... not sure if the code was written specifically to IE or not tho....

And anyone know which mozilla version 6.1 is based on?

Grumble..... maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning ;) I understand why developers don't like having to develop to different packages (that don't properly adhere to standards to boot!), but just like with PC hardware, the developer's pain is good for the consumers, it keeps the products getting better.

The last time I downloaded IE full for install (I don't like the installer stub thingie), it came out to 80MB with everything (if my memory is correct).

<<please explain though...i don't feel like it is integrated feels like a seperate program to me.>>

Hmmmm... Microsoft itself argues the EXACT OPPOSITE of this in trial - they claim IE is tightly integrated into the OS, and can therefore not be extracted. My beef is not so much whether it's really "integrated" or not, but that when you download a new version of the browser, it "upgrades" all sorts of other parts of your OS, including the encryption level, it updates many dll's, adds all sorts of news bugs etc. I don't want to change my OS just to update my browser. I want to upgrade my browser without risking messing up my OS. The MS KB articles are full of things related to upgrading IE blowing up other stuff and causing other proggies not to work. Yes, in time those things are fixed, but the bottom line is that you shouldn't have to upgrade your entire OS just to get a newer browser.
