So, a while back my mom had me install net nanny 5 on my brother's computer. It worked great for several months. However, last Sunday my home was experiencing several power surges per hour, yet my brother didn't think to turn the computer off. In fact, when the surges would turn it off, he would just turn it right back on. Then there was a 45 minute power surge.
After the power surges, net nanny was completely screwed up, and the internet was nonfunctional on just that computer. The internet was fixed by a restart of my modem and router. Net nanny did not run correctly, it just spouted out random error messages. Uninstallation and repair install are both unsuccessful, so I'm just going to reformat the computer.
Now, my brother claims that the power surges are the cause of the net nanny problems, however I don't think this is possible (keep in mind that no other applications were affected). Yet my mom wants proof that its not possible, so I decided to post it here to get your opinions. Do you think the power surges are the cause, or was my brother doing something malicious in an attempt to bypass net nanny?
