Should I go with the WNR3500 or the WNR3300?

I'm sure Newegg is hating me right now, I ordered the 3300 twice and cancelled them, and just ordered the 3500 and canceled it until I have a better idea of which one I want, lol.

Went with the 3500, I'd like to have DD-WRT, but the gigabit ports make the 3500 a better choice IMO.

SuperSix, your link goes to the 3300. Like Krankn stated, I needed the gigabit to finish off my transition to a Gb network and this one fit the bill.

Make sure and update the firmware immediately (via wired connex only) and these should run as well as any gb N router available. I'm currently running a Netgear 834b refurb that had port 4 go bad, so I can use that as a spare now.

Just got mine working, but I had forgotten to write down my DNS server entries from my ISP so I had to plug in the old one to jot down the numbers. Updated firmware to 1.029 (North Amer. is on 1.0.29 but there is a 1.0.30 for the rest of the world, which is backwards from Netgear's usual release of US first, world second.

Anyhoo, all router ports working, and most of my PCs are now running at Gb internal speeds, so my WHS backups should finish even faster now.

Where do you guys get the coupon codes like this one from Newegg?
I get their newsletters too, but never seen some of the codes given out by forum members..

Honestly, I'm wishing I could send this thing back to Newegg. Out of the 3 laptops in my house, only 1 stays connected, and the Wii drops quite a bit. I pulled it and put the DIR-615 back. Googled more and found a lot of people with the same issues on this router. Shame, otherwise, seems like a great deal. Netgear has really gone downhill quality wise.

Krak, have you updated the firmware yet ? That's the first thing I do, and the only other change I made was a change to how the MAC address was handled (there are three options which I forgot off the top of my head), and mine has not dropped in a week since I made those changes.

Yep, updated to the latest FW, didn't seem to make a difference.

Didn't do anything with how it handled MAC addresses, not sure why that would stop dropping. I've boxed it back up at this point, I guess I'll sit on it and see if they update the FW at some point again.

Well, found some Atheros wifi drivers for my Aspire One, the latest ones on Acer's site were from 10/08, but Atheros had some from 2/09 on their site, took some hunting to find them tho. Seems to have resolved my issues with dropping on my Aspire One, which is awesome, since this access point does seem faster than my DIR-615 did when it works right.

Good to hear. I've personally not had any issues whatsoever with the connection dropping using an old Netgear b/g PC card.

LoL, I had the same exhaustive search for those Atheros Wi-Fi drivers for an Acer as well !! Did you feel like you were hunting for the mythical Loch Ness monster when trying to find them ??

I was going to mention that for your next plan of attack, as the WAP is only half of the equation, so its glad to hear you are having better luck this time with the Wi-Fi setup.

Can this log records in real-time to a local computer port, usually 514 (SysLog) or 162 (SNMPTrap).

Since I want to use Wallwatcher with my next router. Anyone know?

Easy to setup, missing the cd / manual but who cares about that stuff.

Came with powercord/network cable/router.

Would recommend, seems faster too.
