I just bought a Netgear WGR614v2 and I have it installed as an access point on my LAN. Everything works fine except the wireless part...I can connect to it and to the internet through it fine from my wired connections, but my laptop can't seem to find the wireless network.

The wireless LED on the front of the router is blinking slowly, which seems to tell me there's some sort of problem or that it's not broadcasting correctly. However I can't find any reference in the manual or online to what this would mean. My laptop (WindowsXP) can't find any wireless networks, and I've gone through and set up the SSID and even the encryption keys -- nothing.

Can anyone provide any help?

Thanks :)

Make sure ssid name is same in router and laptop. Disable encryption on both and see if will connect. Also disable DHCP in wireless and connect wireless router thru one of the network ports not the wan port asssuming you just want to just use this as a wireless access point and you have a wired network already as I guessing from what you wrote

reset laptop and router to defaults, it should send out the signal in default mode so that the laptop picks up the wireless signal. When I set mine I had to set everything to default a couple times and do each step one a time to see if it would connect. When I did something that made it screw up then I set both back to default and redid the one thing I screwed up lol.

set both to default and see if you connect then if you can start with changing the ssid name in the router then the laptop. then go to another step making changes in the router first then the laptop

Done all that too ... does your wireless LED icon blink? Because mine does as I said in OP and that doesn't seem right...

when I connecting to the net yes or another pc on my network, yes my led blinks.

If you are in default mode for both you still cannot connect to the pcs?

Do you have a wired network already and you are just using this as an access point?

Is it a flicker like an activity blink, or a SLOW blink? Mine blinks on.....off.....on.....off, etc. Slow blink.

And I am trying to set it up as an access point but I have tried it as both the main router and access point and neither works.

can you get into the wireless interface ? Should be something like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

My laptop doesn't even recognize any wireless networks available, and if I try to manually add the network it says it can't find it. But if I attatch my Pc to the wired port of the Netgear I can connect to the interface just fine.
