I ordered the Netgear "G" wireless router and pc card last night from buy.com. They sell these as a "kit" and separately. I ordered the "kit". The total came to $126.84 total....then $50 off in rebates. If buying the "kit" they list 2 rebates from Netgear...$20 and #10. There's also a $20 from buy.com.....total $50 in rebates. The problem is that the Netgear rebate form doesn't list this "kit" and buy.com changes one of the letters in the product number. If these come separately they will have the correct numbers, but the buy.com receipt might list them as a "kit". I emailed buy.com last night and this is the response i got:

"Thank you for writing to us.

We are responding regarding your order #xxxxxxxx.

We apologize for the confusion regarding rebate forms. We are unsure how
the bundled kit applies to the Netgear offer; there is some question
whether you can execute the rebate for both the router and the card, or
only one item.

Please contact the manufacturer's rebate center directly for
clarification. You will find contact information for the rebate center
on the bottom of the form.

Log into your account, click on the order number found below your
account information, and click on 'view receipt'. You will find a link
for the rebate there.

The Buy.com-specific rebate is straightforward; $20 rebate specific to
the kit being sold.

Remember, you will also need copies of your receipt in order to mail in
a rebate. To view and print your receipt, visit your buy.com My Account
by clicking on the My Account link at the top right of any page on our
web site (www.buy.com). After you log in, click on the order that
contains the rebate item, and then click on the View Receipt link at the
bottom of the page.

We appreciate your business."

I called the Netgear phone number and got the rebate phone number (Netgear couldn't offer any csr to speak to about it). The rebate csr said it should be ok. I'm not sure whether to believe them or not. Anyone else buy this? What do you think about this problem? thanks, cracker
