Edit: Two things, actually three.
1) These units DO support 160Mhz channels; also DFS channels (which NOT all 5Ghz client devices support! If you can't see your 5Ghz SSID, try disabling DFS.)
2) Automatic firmware updates. (I can see their reasoning behind it, so few consumers update their routers when there's a firmware update. That said, this can also cause "breakage".)
3) Netgear ARMOR, powered by Bitdefender, is a SUBSCRIZPHTION. No details on their web site what the monthly / yearly cost is, and whether this is REQUIRED to use the router at all, or if ARMOR feature can simply be disabled.

^ Yes, you can disable ARMOR, through the app, or the web GUI for some Netgear models. Used to be $80/year, but router works fine without it - even better according to those who have sites blocked illegitimately.
