Netgear MR814v2 supports ASCII WEP?

Anyone here have a Netgear MR814v2 router and use WEP? It apears it only supports Hex for the WEP key and it appears that Windows XP's wireless client only supports ASCII. Netgear doesn't seem to respond when you input a support request so does anyone happen to know anything about this that can help?

Stupid Netgear support. Wish they'd jsut reply to a stinking email. That and their website lists two different firmware versions as current so I have no idea what the difference is and which I'm supposed to use. *sigh*

windows xp lets me put in a hex wep key just fine.

Just put in the wep key and if it's formatted correctly, wxp should try it as a hex string first, then as an ascii one.

I'd rather get the stupid router to take ascii as then I can use a code that might mean something to me instead of remembering random characters. heh. But I'll try that again this weekend. I'm used to clients where I have to specify if it's Hex or Ascii.
