Hey guys I seem to have a problem with my netgear ma111 wireless adapter a lot. I've got a wireless netgear mr814v2 upstairs with wireless on, wep enabled everything. One day I turn on the computer downstairs to get on the net, and it doesn't work. The funny thing is, the MA111 utility shows between 60~80% signal strength/link quality with the router, and it's in the green. I've checked all the settings and such and they all seem to be connected and working fine.....except that the internet just isn't going to that computer. The Wireless access list in the router is enabled with the wireless adapter's mac address and everything, but when I check the attached devices list, only my own desktop pc shows up. I haven't changed anything since the last time I used it (when it worked), so encountering this problem is a little bit perplexing. Well.. I changed one thing, and that was that I moved the router from the right side of my desk to the left side, away from the crt monitor, since I was having cable modem problems, which seems to have been fixed by the little move.

I've had some other weird problems with the adapter as well. There was a time a while back where I wouldn't even be able to connect to the router, no signal strength, no link quality, all it would do is just try to search different channels for the right signal. I don't know how that ever got fixed, since one day I just turned it on and bam...it was working. I never touched or changed anything then either. Quite a fidgety little adapater I must have...

You'd think a wireless router and an adapter by the same name would work so well together that it'd be set up in less than a minute, but nope. >.>

Ok you said you have WEP enabled. And you mentioned you have the MAC address listed in the router. Do you have MAC filtering turned on? If so make sure you are giving the adapter access. Also do you have the WEP code entered in correctly in the computer with the adapter. What does windows list as the signal strength? If you have the ability move the computer closer to the router and see if that corrects the problem... Just some troubleshooting tips to try.

Worst case hold in the reset on the router for about 10 seconds and that should do a hard reset on it and try and reset up the router and see if that helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yea I had the wireless adapater access control on, but the adapter's been listed in there ever since I got it. Anyway I decided to turn it off to see if that helped any, and it didn't. In the end I re-input the WEP passcode/key without changing any of the other settings and that seemed to do the trick. It's working fine again now, but I wonder what got into it, since I hadn't changed the passcode/key at all.
