Netflix subtitles work on the PS3 but not on the XBox 360. MS owns the framework Netflix runs on, I can't believe they can't get this feature fixed.

In fact I'm even surprised they allowed Silverlight on the PS3. You'd think they would wanna deny that to piss off people and boost Xbox sales.

I can't recall where I read it but it's my understanding that Netflix's exclusivity deal with Silverlight and Microsoft expired, which is why there were able to bring streaming to the PS3 w/o a disc.

My sister and I have trouble hearing and we were extremely thankful when the first few Netflix streaming movies popped up with subs. Now, if only there were a way to enable them in the Windows Media Center plug-in (is there?)...

Umm... the only reason it was ever on a disc is because Microsoft struck a gaming platform exclusivity contract for the XBOX 360 and THAT expired. The disc used BD-J and, though it only worked on the PS3, it was not native PS3 code. Same goes for the Wii. The Silverlight deal and the game platform exclusivity deal were two separate deals.

Last I heard Netflix on the PS3 uses HTML5. Netflix plans to slowly transfer to HTML5. I uh think?

Closed captions aren't on the 360? Odd....

I know it is on PC, PS3 & Wii. Also other audio tracks.

So yeah other Netflix devices are suppose to get adaptive bitrate streaming (changes streams on the fly if your connection slows or speeds up without a re-buffer screen.), 5.1 & additional audio options (English tracks for foreign films), Closed Captions....

So well see.

Yes even the Roku box doesn't use Silverlight. I think only the PC does. The Iphone/Ipad uses HTML5.

Gotcha, I knew it was some sort of contract that expired. This explains why I couldn't find much on it in my few minutes or searching :p
