Yarrr Matey?

Some of us like to keep it legal, yo.

lol, there's a mom and pop video store up the street. I can get any new release on the day it comes out. They even offer a free rental coupon if they don't have a new release in stock. I've never gotten a free rental because they've never not had a movie. Netflix is slow even for shit they have in stock, wait, I can que a movie online and MAYBE get it by tomorrow? SIGN ME UP! NO wait I'll walk a block, get the movie, watch it, take it back, get another and watch it and repeat before Netflix even sends my que out. And for new releases is getting worse and worse according to people I know who use it. Also, didn't they give into the studios and will not even offer new releases for a month or so after release starting soon?

Ya but you are missing the point. For what you paid for two movies at a rental store (probably less), you could have a month of Netflix. On avg I watch about 10 or so movies in a month, on just the 1 disc plan.

10 movies in the mail > 2 movies from a rental store.

if there were a 2 month wait on a new release, i think id drop down to the local movie store if it was a movie i really wanted to see that night.

i used to have a netflix account a long time ago, but canceled it when i couldnt find any movies i wanted to see anymore. there was no streaming at the time, so im sure its a lot better now. ive been thinking of giving it a try again.

Train -- you're clearly not watching Blu Ray, because there's no way you'd have enough time to mail back and to get mailed that many new movies in a month with a 1-at a time plan

Unless netflix just hates me for some reason

And there is some good content available for streaming as well.

I do just fine with BRD. Granted I live in Nashville and there is a distro center in Nashville...

Do Blu Ray movies take longer to watch than thier DVD counterparts? Do they move through the mail faster? Not sure what you mean.

If a movie is on a wait, netflix still sends next available on the que.

If I get a movie on a monday, I watch it, put it in mailbox on Tuesday, get another movie thursday, have it in mail on friday, get another movie monday.....

You really have to be perfect to get 10 in a month, sometimes it requires at least one saturday where you watch a new arrival and have it in the outgoing mail the same day.

I get movies for $1.25 each from there, and I don't have to wait. it's a bit more money if I were to get a lot of movies a month. But not having to wait and never having a que is a huge plus. Blockbuster isn't cheap, local videos stores generally are though. Netflix isn't cheaper than a local mom & pop store unless you get a ton of movies. Also the local stores almost always have pr0n, Netflix never will.

Does that $1.25 new release price include blu-rays? Is that a 1-day rental with a late fee if you don't bring it back on time?

No late fees and having the blu-rays show up in my mailbox is worth waiting now and then.

You aren't getting new releases for $1.25, I dont care where you live.

Unless they are running an illegal shop.

And, really, your looking somewhere, OTHER THAN THE INTERNET, for porn?

Hmmm red Box?

Maybe they are bootlegs, but Mon-Thur it's $1.25 Fri-Sun $1.88/3 for $5. This is very typical for local shops, meaning there are at least a dozen in my city with prices similar to these. Some are even cheaper. We have a .98 Super Video (that's the name) where it's just over a buck for a DVD after tax. Maybe they are all renting nothing but bootlegs copies, I just know the quality is spot on and the price is right. And you can get brand new movies at a Redbox for $1. So why couldn't a store that rents hundreds of movies a day being able to get away with only charing $1.25?

You confuse me, with that said I'm going to go rent a brand new movie and only pay $1.25 and watch it instantly...

I would love to find a local mom&pop store that charges $1.25/movie (not Red Box... that service blows). Unfortunately I have Hollywood/Blockbuster meaning Netflix is superior.

I save movies to my queue while they are in theaters or even before they are released to theaters, and I almost never have to wait when they get released to Netflix. Pretty sure it is first come, first serve when it comes to waits for discs. If you are the 5th million person to add it to your queue, you're just gonna have to wait in line.

yeah, i keep hearing about how you can watch your netflix movies on the ps3, but i've tried figuring out how and i just can't. the only way i can watch the movies i have queued is by waiting for the dvds to come in the mail and then physically put them into the ps3.

only movies from your watch now/instant queue. if its in your DVD queue you will never see it until the dvd arrives.

Don't have a problem here in WNY. Served Blu-rays from the Rochester, NY distro center. Only movie I have on wait is the "Cool Runnings" DVD...

No, it doesn't suck at all. I'm amazed at people who bitch that $9/mo is expensive and then expect the company to felate them.

I have 18 movies in my queue. All have waits.

I've been waiting almost 3 weeks now.

Netflix is blowing it.

the streaming is a barf bag selection of shit
its like all the movies from usa's up all night and syfy
the good ones that stream you have already seen

the scify is absolute garbage and your description is completely apt. I find though that the independent and foreign sections, many of the thriller/suspense are pretty good, most of it quite excellent, actually.

i've got a shit ton of awesome documentaries and PBS/Frontline-type specials popping up in my instant queue all the time. This is probably what I dig the most about the instant streaming queue through PS3--where I don't really care about the PQ.

Plus, the simple little romantic comedy section keeps the lady happy, so that keeps zinfamous happy.

I will say that my favorite past time has become browsing the instant selection and adding to the queue, never watching. ..sometimes for a few hours

I had Gran Torino in my queue for almost 6 months before I got it.

Was worth the wait though

That's my fault, I had Grand Toino sitting on my kitchen counter for 2 months before I got around to watching it. I'm a Netflix Instant addict but, for some odd reason, not too concerned about their mail service anymore.

So you don't have any movies in hand then? That sucks. Mind me asking what the 18 movies are? I've got a full queue and only one has a wait...

Yeah no shit man. I've had Paranormal Activity sitting here for over a month.

None in hand.

Surrogates, Paranormal Activity, Jennifer's Body, Zombieland, Couples Retreat, A Serious Man, 2012, Saints II, more...

Surrogates has been #1 in my queue even before it was released.. So yeah it's been there a while..
